Repair or Replace?
In a lot of cases, many garage door openers can be repaired without requiring a replacement. Precision Door technicians arrive with a wide variety of parts in their trucks so they can service your opener on the first visit.
There are still some cases however where a replacement might be necessary:
- If the brand or manufacturer no longer exists, it may be hard to find replacement parts for your opener.
- If a manufacturer has encountered many lawsuits due to safety, we don't feel comfortable repairing these openers for the safety of your family.
- Federal regulations surrounding garage door openers were enacted in 1993. If your opener was installed prior to 1993, it may be time for a replacement. This is especially true if your opener does not have safety eyes, which is crucial for a safe operating garage door.
Imbalanced Garage Doors Cause Stress on Openers
We check every garage door for proper balance as part of our 25-point inspection. An improperly balanced garage door puts extra stress on the opener and can cause it to fail. Not sure what an imbalanced door looks like? Check out this video.
